El Dorado Imports Inc, a food and beverage importer in Houston, Texas, failed to establish a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) required under FDA regulations to verify that imported foods meet U.S. food safety standards. During inspections conducted in December 2021 and previously in June 2019, the FDA found the company had no FSVP in place and was therefore in significant violation of 21 CFR part 1, subpart L. Although the company acknowledged the deficiency in its January 2022 response and promised compliance by April 2022, it provided no evidence of steps taken to develop an FSVP, and this represented a repeated failure to comply following the earlier 2019 inspection.
