Maliba African Market Corp., a food importer in New York, failed to establish and maintain a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) required by federal law for imported foods including fonio and mayonnaise. During FDA inspections conducted in June-July 2021 and August 2022, investigators found the company had not developed any FSVP documentation for its imported food products, representing a significant violation of 21 CFR part 1, subpart L and section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The company did not respond to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the August 2022 inspection.
