Florida Gold Foods LLC, a rice repacking and distribution facility in Kissimmee, Florida, violated Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls regulations by operating under insanitary conditions. FDA inspection and sampling from May 2022 discovered rodent excreta pellets, multi-stage beetles, cat/dog fecal material, flies, and moths throughout the warehouse, with similar insect contamination (larval, pupae, and adult stages) also found in packaged Florida Gold brand rice products. These findings resulted in the products being deemed adulterated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act as they were prepared, packed, and held under conditions that allowed contamination with filth and posed potential health risks.
