Cheshni Foods LLC, an importer of food products including fig jam, cookies, tahini, and other foods, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and 21 CFR part 1, subpart L. During an FDA inspection conducted from March 22 through April 28, 2023, investigators found that the company had not established an FSVP for any of the foods it imported, representing a significant violation of food safety compliance requirements. The company did not respond to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection on April 28, 2023.
