Greenwood Ice Cream, LLC received a warning for manufacturing ready-to-eat ice cream products under insanitary conditions, in violation of Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls regulations. During an FDA inspection in June 2021, investigators detected Listeria monocytogenes, a human pathogen, in environmental swabs collected from the facility's processing areas, rendering the ice cream products adulterated and potentially injurious to health. The facility failed to comply with multiple preventive controls provisions required under 21 CFR Part 117, including inadequate sanitation and food safety controls.
