Amazon.com distributed three herbal supplement products ("Artri Ajo King Reforzado con Ortiga y Omega 3," "Artri King Reforzado con Ortiga y Omega 3," and "Ortiga Mas Ajo Rey") through its Fulfillment by Amazon service that violated federal drug law as unapproved new drugs and misbranded products. FDA laboratory testing confirmed these products contained the undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredient diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug not listed on product labels, which carries serious safety risks including increased cardiovascular events and gastrointestinal bleeding. The products were sold directly to consumers via Amazon.com without proper FDA approval or accurate labeling, violating sections 301(a), 301(d), and 505(a) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
