Alora Pharmaceuticals received a warning for false and misleading sponsored link promotional communications for RELEXXII® (methylphenidate hydrochloride extended-release tablets), a Schedule II controlled substance used to treat ADHD. The sponsored links misbranded the drug by creating a misleading impression about its safety, despite the product bearing a boxed warning for high abuse potential, misuse risk, overdose, death, and substance use disorder development. This violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was deemed especially concerning from a public health perspective given the serious risks associated with this controlled substance.
