JJH Trading Inc., a food and beverage importer based in El Monte, California, failed to establish and maintain a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by federal law for any of the foods it imported, including broad beans, crushed chili, nut snacks, and dehydrated mango half slices. During an FDA inspection conducted from March 11-26, 2024, investigators found the company did not develop the required risk-based verification activities to ensure imported foods met U.S. food safety standards, resulting in significant violations of 21 CFR part 1, subpart L and section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The company failed to respond to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection on March 26, 2024.
