Shantaba LLC, a food importer based in Austin, Texas, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) for imported foods including 2-Minute Noodles, Kesar Mango Pulp, and Soya Wadi-Soya Chunks, violating section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and 21 CFR part 1, subpart L. During a June 2023 inspection, FDA investigators found no evidence that the company had established any FSVP documentation or risk-based verification activities to ensure its imported foods met applicable U.S. food safety standards. The company failed to respond to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection on July 7, 2023.
