Furst-McNess Company's medicated goat feed manufacturing facility was cited for producing an adulterated animal feed product (B9251, 18% Goat Starter) that contained excessive monensin concentrations, resulting in multiple goat illnesses and deaths that prompted a voluntary Class I recall in August 2023. The inspection revealed significant violations of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) for Medicated Feeds under 21 CFR Part 225 and failures to implement required Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals under 21 CFR Part 507.
