Lone Pine Farm, a shell egg producer in Missouri, violated federal food safety regulations governing Salmonella prevention in shell egg production, storage, and transportation (21 CFR Part 118). FDA inspectors found in February 2023 that the farm failed to implement its written Salmonella Enteritidis Prevention Plan and did not maintain required refrigeration and registration standards, rendering the eggs adulterated and in violation of the Public Health Service Act. Although the farm indicated it would redirect eggs to the breaker market, the FDA noted this response was insufficient and that certain regulatory requirements still applied to their operations.
