Bakery Project Inc. dba Delano Bakery received a warning for manufacturing ready-to-eat bread products under insanitary conditions in violation of Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations. During an August 2021 inspection, FDA investigators found live and dead cockroaches, moths, insect webbing, and rodent excreta pellets in samples and throughout the facility, including 10 live cockroach-like insects in a proofer and evidence of pest contamination on production surfaces. The company failed to implement effective pest control measures to prevent food and food-contact surface contamination, rendering the bread products adulterated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. No response to the FDA Form-483 had been received at the time the warning letter was issued.
