Gascó Industrial Corporation, a drug manufacturer in Puerto Rico, was cited for significant Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) violations in the production of over-the-counter antibacterial hand soap, antiseptics, and hand sanitizer products. The company failed to maintain adequate separate defined areas to prevent contamination, instead manufacturing pharmaceutical drugs using the same equipment as non-pharmaceutical industrial detergents and disinfectants, creating an unacceptable cross-contamination risk. The FDA determined the company's November 2022 response to inspection findings was inadequate and lacked sufficient evidence of corrective actions necessary to bring operations into compliance with CGMP regulations.
