San Juan Produce LLC, an importer of fresh produce including husk tomatoes, carrots, and cilantro, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and 21 CFR part 1, subpart L. During an FDA inspection on March 25, 2025, investigators found the company had not established an FSVP for any of the foods it imported, representing significant violations of food safety verification requirements. The company did not respond to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection. This was the company's second inspection for FSVP compliance in approximately two years, indicating a pattern of non-compliance with foreign supplier verification requirements.
