Gongora USA Corp, a food importer in Chula Vista, California, failed to develop and maintain a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) for imported fresh produce including cucumbers, white squash, and cue ball squash, in violation of section 805 of the FD&C Act and 21 CFR part 1, subpart L. During inspections conducted in November 2024 and previously in December 2020 through January 2021, the FDA found that the company had not implemented any FSVP for any of its imported foods, despite being required to perform risk-based verification activities to ensure compliance with U.S. food safety standards. The company failed to respond to the FDA Form 483a observations issued on November 15, 2024.
