Livestock Nutrition Center's non-medicated feed product (LNC Pasture Gold 24-5 Plus) was found to contain monensin, a medicated ingredient not listed on the label, which caused multiple animal deaths from toxicity. FDA investigators discovered significant violations of Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls requirements under 21 CFR 507 during an inspection of their Garden City, Kansas facility conducted from August 29 through September 17, 2024. The contamination resulted in the presence of a cattle-only medicated ingredient in feed that was shipped for use in unapproved species, rendering the product adulterated. The company initiated a voluntary recall on August 26, 2024, following an RFR report documenting the deaths of animals that consumed the affected lot.
