ReConserve Inc., an animal food manufacturer in Baltimore, MD, was cited for significant Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) violations and failure to comply with hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls requirements under 21 CFR Part 507, rendering their products adulterated. FDA inspectors discovered that the company failed to adequately examine raw materials and ingredients for suitability in manufacturing, and found evidence that products consisted in whole or in part of filthy, putrid, or decomposed substances. The inspection was triggered by a complaint from a state regulatory partner regarding ingredient storage conditions and was conducted between May and June 2023.
