Martin Farm failed to maintain adequate treatment records for medicated animals, creating risk that animals with potentially harmful drug residues could enter the food supply. During FDA inspections in May and June 2023, investigators found the farm administered prescription antibiotics (enrofloxacin and ceftiofur hydrochloride) to calves in violation of approved labeling, including failure to follow prescribed animal class, indications for use, route of administration, and withdrawal times. The farm did not maintain any treatment records for drugs given to calves and kept incomplete records for cattle lacking critical information such as dose, duration of treatment, and administration details. The company received an FDA 483 for these observations but did not respond prior to issuance of this warning letter.
