Bedner Growers, Inc. was warned for producing adulterated cucumbers prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions that became contaminated with multiple strains of Salmonella, a human pathogen. The warnings were issued following two FDA inspections (June 2024 and April 2025) conducted in response to multi-state Salmonella Africana and Salmonella Braenderup outbreaks linked to the company's cucumbers, with FDA collecting positive environmental and product samples containing Salmonella from the cucumber packing line. The company's cucumbers were found to violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by being shipped in interstate commerce while contaminated with Salmonella, constituting a prohibited act under the law.
