Orchid Grocery, a food and beverage importer, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by federal law for any of the foods it imported, including natural sesame seeds, dietary supplements, and fish masala from multiple foreign suppliers. During an FDA inspection conducted May 22 through June 5, 2025, investigators found significant violations of 21 CFR part 1, subpart L, which requires importers to perform risk-based activities to verify that imported foods meet applicable U.S. food safety standards. The company had not responded to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection on June 5, 2025.
