Jack & The Green Sprouts, Inc. was cited for significant violations of produce safety regulations (21 CFR Part 112) during an October 2024 inspection of its sprouts manufacturing facility in River Falls, Wisconsin. The company's sprouts were found to be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogenic bacterium that can cause severe, life-threatening listeriosis, based on analytical results from September 2024 through January 2025. The FDA identified failures in sanitation practices and proper handling procedures that allowed pathogenic contamination to proliferate in the sprouting operation. The company had not responded to the FDA's initial inspectional observations (Form FDA 483) at the time the warning letter was issued.
