Aurora Pharmaceutical received a warning for misbranded veterinary drug products—including Altren® and SwineMate® (altrenogest) and Barrier™ for dogs (imidacloprid and moxidectin)—due to false or misleading promotional claims on their website and linked webpages that violated FD&C Act sections 502(a), 502(n), and 201(n), as well as 21 CFR 202.1(e)(5). The violation was considered especially serious because Altren® and SwineMate® carry serious user safety warnings and Barrier™ carries a boxed warning regarding oral exposure in dogs and topical exposure in children, yet the company's promotional materials misrepresented the safety and effectiveness of these products. The FDA prohibited further distribution of these misbranded products in interstate commerce.
