Cureganics was cited for marketing unapproved CBD products with claims that they could mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19, violating section 505(a) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by selling unapproved new drugs and section 502 by misbranding them. The FDA and FTC reviewed the company's website in February and March 2022 and determined that these products lacked FDA approval or authorization and posed a consumer protection risk during the declared public health emergency. The agency demanded immediate cessation of all unapproved and unauthorized COVID-19 treatment products and prohibited further introduction of these drugs into interstate commerce.
