Key Foods Co. dba Key Food Services, a food importer based in Illinois, failed to comply with Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) requirements under 21 CFR Part 1, Subpart L during FDA inspections conducted in April 2023 and April 2024. The company did not perform required risk-based verification activities to ensure imported foods met U.S. food safety standards, and despite receiving FDA 483 observations, failed to provide supporting documentation of corrective actions or develop adequate FSVP plans for its imported food products. The FDA determined these violations represented significant noncompliance with Section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.
