Jaramillo Spices Corp., an importer of food products including fresh tamarind, dried black beans, and vanilla flavoring, failed to establish Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVPs) as required under FDA regulations. During inspections conducted in November 2018 and March-April 2021, the FDA found that the company had no FSVPs in place for any of the food products it imported, representing a significant violation of section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The company did not respond to FDA Form 483a observations issued at the conclusion of either inspection, demonstrating a pattern of non-compliance over the two-year period between inspections.
