CAMA Wellness Center/IodoRios Company, LLC sold hand wipe products through their website and social media that claimed to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19, violating section 505(a) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by marketing an unapproved new drug. The products were also misbranded under section 502 of the FD&C Act, and their introduction into interstate commerce violated sections 301(a) and (d) of the FD&C Act. The FDA took this enforcement action during the declared public health emergency and presidential national emergency declarations in response to COVID-19, as part of urgent measures to protect consumers from unapproved COVID-19 products.
