Metamune Inc was warned for marketing DiabetesSupport as an unapproved drug and misbranded product through its website, social media, and Amazon storefront. The company made disease claims that violated the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, including statements that the product provided "diabetes support," helped "maintain desired blood sugar level," and offered "natural diabetes control solution"—claims that established the product's intended use as a drug requiring FDA approval rather than as a dietary supplement. The FDA and Federal Trade Commission jointly reviewed the company's online marketing channels in August 2021 and determined these claims violated the Act by introducing an unapproved new drug into interstate commerce.
