Bolive, Inc., an importer of food and beverages including halva, tahini, and black olives, failed to comply with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) regulation under section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. During a February 2022 inspection, the FDA found that the company did not develop, maintain, and follow an FSVP as required by 21 CFR part 1.502(a) for foods imported from multiple foreign suppliers. These significant violations indicated the company was not performing the required risk-based verification activities to ensure imported foods met applicable U.S. food safety standards.
