Mina Global Trading Corp, a food and beverage importer, failed to comply with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) requirements under 21 CFR part 1, subpart L during FDA inspections conducted in April-May 2022 and April 2021. Although the company qualified as a very small importer and was entitled to streamlined compliance requirements, it failed to meet even those reduced obligations, including obtaining required written assurances from suppliers before importing food and maintaining documentation at least every two years. The violations represented significant non-compliance with section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which requires importers to verify that imported foods meet applicable U.S. food safety standards.
