Jones Affiliated Inc., a food and beverage importer, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for any of its imported products, including Wild Yam Flavor Powder, Premium White Gourd Jam, Red Bean Paste, and Black Sesame Powder. During a June 2022 FDA inspection of the company's FSVP records, investigators identified this significant violation and issued a Form FDA 483a on June 22, 2022, to which the company had not responded at the time of the warning letter. The company's failure to implement risk-based supplier verification activities meant it could not demonstrate that its imported foods met applicable U.S. food safety standards.
