Thai Kee Trading Co, a food importer based in San Jose, California, failed to establish adequate Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) for multiple imported food products including Thai Jasmine rice, Tusino curing powder, and canned mushroom vegetarian broth. During inspections conducted in August and September 2020, the FDA found that the company's presented FSVPs did not meet regulatory requirements under 21 CFR part 1 subpart L, and the company lacked required FSVPs entirely for other imported foods. The violations were particularly significant because the company had received identical observations on a Form FDA 483a following a previous inspection in September 2017 but failed to respond or correct the deficiencies.
