Chaur Fong Inc. dba 888 Food Company's seafood processing facility in South El Monte, California was found to have serious violations of seafood HACCP and Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations during a June 2022 inspection. The company's HACCP plan for refrigerated seafood ready-to-eat products, including Ho King brand Fried Fish Balls and Giai Phat brand Fish Balls, failed to establish critical limits at the critical control point stage necessary to prevent Clostridium botulinum toxin formation. These deficiencies rendered the products adulterated under federal law, as they were prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions that could injure consumer health.
