Vero USA Corporation, a food and beverage importer, failed to comply with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) requirements under 21 CFR part 1, subpart L during FDA inspections conducted between May 2021 and July 2022. The company did not perform adequate risk-based verification activities to ensure that imported human and/or animal food met applicable U.S. food safety standards. FDA provided the firm with Form FDA 483a FSVP Observations documenting the violations and granted a one-month extension for the company to submit corrective action documentation by July 29, 2022.
