Agroson's LLC, a food importer in Bronx, New York, failed to establish and maintain a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) for imported papayas and limes as required by federal law. The FDA conducted inspections between August 2019 and September 2021 and found that the company did not develop, maintain, and follow proper FSVP procedures under 21 CFR Part 1, Subpart L to verify that imported produce met U.S. food safety standards. This was a repeat violation, as the company had received a Form FDA 483a citing FSVP observations during the most recent inspection but failed to respond or correct the deficiencies.
