Best Fiji Kava, Inc., an importer of food products including crackers, snack chips, and noodles, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and 21 CFR part 1, subpart L. During FDA inspections conducted in July 2019 and November 2021, the company demonstrated significant non-compliance with FSVP regulations, which require importers to perform risk-based verification activities to ensure imported foods meet U.S. food safety standards. The company did not respond to the FDA 483a observations issued following the November 2021 inspection, compounding the compliance violations.
