2m Associates, Inc., a food importer based in Bronx, NY, failed to establish Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVPs) for broken rice and rice products imported from foreign suppliers, in violation of section 805 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and 21 CFR part 1 subpart L. During remote and in-person inspections conducted between February and March 2021, FDA investigators found the company had not developed, maintained, or implemented required risk-based verification activities to ensure these imported foods met applicable U.S. food safety standards. The company did not respond to the FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection on March 3, 2021.
