Daxa Foods, Inc. dba India Grocers, an importer of food products including puffed rice, rice flour, and shredded coconut, failed to develop, maintain, and follow a Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) as required by the FD&C Act and 21 CFR Part 1, Subpart L. During a March 2022 inspection, FDA investigators found the company had not established any FSVP documentation for the imported food products, representing a significant violation of the requirement that importers verify their suppliers' compliance with U.S. food safety standards. The company also failed to respond to the Form FDA 483a observations issued at the conclusion of the inspection on March 17, 2022.
