Acme Smoked Fish Corp. was warned about serious safety violations in its ready-to-eat hot and cold smoked seafood processing facility in Brooklyn, New York. FDA testing found Salmonella in finished cold smoked tuna products and Listeria monocytogenes in environmental samples throughout the facility, indicating insanitary processing conditions. The company failed to comply with Seafood HACCP regulations (21 CFR Part 123) and Current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements (21 CFR Part 117), rendering its products adulterated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. These violations were identified during an extensive multi-day inspection conducted in January and February 2021.
